Amiko Triple Tuner HDD Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a subscription cost?
This box uses Astra 28.2E satellite which is a subscription free service, there is no charge or subscription fee at all! We are simply combining free-to-air (FTA) satellite and terrestrial channels, packaging it together in one place and with category layouts (Entertainment, News and Sport, Movies etc.) and full 7 day EPG for everything. EPG updates are taken over the air either via satellite or terrestrial (depending on the type of service you have tuned in) and channel list updates with full UK regional choices are made online (Internet connection required), but there are no subscription fees are charges made for these updates which will be provided free of charge for the lifetime of the box being supported. Did we mention, it's free, no charge?!
Do I need a satellite dish and a TV Aerial?
▾
You will need a satellite dish that points to Astra at 28.2 East, the same satellite position as Sky and Freesat use. Ideally you should have 'twin feeds' from the dish and use a Universal LNB, this will allow for recording one channel while watching another. It is possible to use a Wideband (SkyQ) LNB but this will require an adapter (not included). It will even work with just a 'single feed' but this will only allow recording the channel you are watching, so much better to have 'twin feeds' if possible. A TV aerial is not required but should you wish to add this 'feed' as well then you will also be able to view or record the full area selection of Freeview channels, so combined with 'twin feeds' from satellite you can now for example record and watch a satellite channel and also watch or record a terrestrial channel.
Does it connect to a standard Sky dish?

However for channel list updates with full UK regional choices that are probably one of the main reasons you will choose this box then these have to be made online as well as software updates and therefore an Internet connection is required for these parts. So as such it's not critical to have an Internet connection to the receiver but it's highly recommended, you will be missing out if you don't!
